Training and Network

Anu Wicklow provides specialist workshops to Secondary Schools and Youthreach.

We recognise that to minimise and reduce the number of people experiencing domestic abuse, we must educate and inform young people of the signs of an abusive relationship.

We also provide specialist training to statutory groups, non-statutory groups, family resource centres, and women’s groups. All training provided by us is tailored to meet the identified needs of those requesting the training. Our prevention work involves awareness-raising, building relationships, promoting understanding of domestic abuse, and the need for interagency work to ensure all our clients are given the appropriate information and pathways to specialised support.

Youthreach

Anu Wicklow delivers an education workshop programme on relationships for young people. The educational workshops are delivered over three modules and aimed to:

Prevent dating abuse among young people by changing attitudes and providing advice and support
Promote healthy relationships among young people through education
Build young people’s resilience to better equip them to deal with experiences of Domestic Abuse, amongst peers, at home, and in society
Give an understanding of consent and the laws attached to consent and sexual abuse in Ireland
Explore sexting, and the impact sexting can have on young people
Explore the laws around consent and the definitions of consent

Our target group is made up of young people aged 12-18. This age range was chosen because research shows that young people’s attitudes can be changed through preventative education and their resilience enhanced.

The educational workshops are delivered over three modules: Educational workshops are available to all schools in Co. Wicklow.
